ZOO RUN @ Sea World | Charity Run for Wildlife Conservation
When it comes to our wonderful Australian wildlife and marine life, many of us are concerned about the welfare and protection of these beautiful creatures. Yet more often than not, we tend to believe that there is little we as individuals can do to make a difference. Gladly local teenager, Tegan Lather, is showing the country just how wrong that assumption can be!
Tegan has a passion for Australian wildlife and marine animals and is committed to making the world a better place for these animals. Taking action to achieve this goal, she has organised many events to raise funds for wildlife and marine conservation and/or hospitals. To date, Tegan has raised over $115K. She is also the brains behind an awesome and fun new fundraising concept — ZOO RUN!
What is ZOO RUN?
ZOO RUN is a fundraising fun run that takes place in a park, zoo, aquarium or other cool venue, before opening hours. Participants get to experience the venue in a way that is rarely seen by the public, enjoy the thrill of running past some of Australia’s most amazing animals, and know that they are doing their part to help save our wildlife. Also, most parks and zoos allow the runners to stay all day as part of the fundraiser, so you can get a fun family outing at the same time!
So far, ZOO RUNs have been held at Australia Zoo, Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary, Monarto Zoo in South Australia and on Tegan’s own home island of Bribie Island, working with Queensland Zoo. The ZOO RUNs are organised entirely by the goodwill of Tegan and her family, and 100% of the profits are donated to conservation.
ZOO RUN @ Sea World
The next ZOO RUN will take place at Sea World on the Gold Coast, on Sunday the 14th of August. The cost of registration is very reasonable, and all registrations include FREE entry to Sea World to stay all day, as well as the chance to win prizes, from animal adventures to a mini break at QT Gold Coast. What’s more, all of the profits will go to the Sea World Research and Rescue Foundation (SWRRF) to help save marine animals.
This is the first time the public has ever been given access to run through Sea World before opening hours, and entrants will get to run through Shark Bay, past dolphins, seals and other marine animals!
The Sea World ZOO RUN has a 5km and a 2km fun run, but walking is fine too! It’s all about having fun and knowing you’re helping towards a great cause! To make it even more fun, participants are encouraged to dress up in their wildest wildlife and marine animal costumes … or their very best animal onesies! Prizes for best dressed individual and team/family runners will be awarded on the day.
