Woodfordia | December/January
The Woodford Folk Festival plays host to an aggregate audience of 132,000 at a dedicated 500-acre festival site known as Woodfordia, one hour’s drive north of Brisbane.
Held every year after Christmas and until New Year, the 6-day festival is Australia’s largest gathering of performers and presenters.
Woodford Folk Festival Woodfordia – Kids Festival
Every year the festival hosts a dedicated Children’s Festival, for patrons aged six months to 12 years to immerse and enjoy the spirit of the festival in a youth-oriented space.
Entry to the Children’s Festival is free with any valid Woodford Folk Festival ticket.
Spread across eight venues and tucked away just inside the Welcome Gate, the Children’s Festival invites young minds to engage in activities and performances ranging from puppet shows, to craft, games, theatre, circus, dance and storytelling. It’s full-time fun for everyone and anyone looking to play the day away with over 55 acts presenting more than 260 performances and workshops this year.
The daily programme runs between 8am and 5pm and activities range anywhere from 20 minutes to four-hour open sessions, keeping the kids entertained all day.
Stay and Play at Woodford Folk Festival
With a Season Camping ticket to the Woodford Folk Festival just $20 for kids aged six to 12, and kids five and under free, visiting Woodfordia can be an affordable family holiday during what is traditionally a very expensive time of the year for accommodation and entertainment (not to mention Christmas!).
There are some food outlets located within the Children’s Festival precinct and feeding and changing facilities for babies and small children are also available.
