What’s on at the Ekka in the Evening for Kids

As the sun sets, the excitement builds at the Ekka. Your Brisbane Kids won’t want to miss these exciting family friendly events happening in the evenings throughout the ten days of the 2015 Ekka.

Professional Horse Trainer & Trick Animal Trainer Frank Green | 5.15pm – 5:30pm nightly (plus various performances throughout the day at other locations)

Energex Community Arena

Holding almost 30 Australian Rodeo titles, Frank Green has trained horses for films (‘Australia’) and recently won The Ultimate Horseman Championship. Families will be amazed at the tricks Frank performs with his horse in this nightly show.

Woodchop & Sawing Bonanza | 5:30 – 5:45pm nightly

An Ekka family favourite, check out these awesome displays of sawing and woodchopping.

Australian Light Horse | 5:45 – 6pm nightly

Watch the mounted troops in a tribute to the amazing Australian Light Horse who served during World War 1.

Sheepdogs Competition and Sheep Herding | 6 – 6:30 pm nightly

Baa-Ram-Ewe! The kids will love this display of sheepdog prowess over their woolly friends!

Trots Queensland Harness Racing | 6:30 – 6:45pm nightly

Watch the beautiful horses as they race around the arena in the Trots Queensland Harness Racing display.

Young Farmers Challenge | 6.45- 6.55pm nightly

A nightly competition which puts young farmers through their paces.

Flash Mob with Tommy Franklin | 6.55 – 7.00pm nightly

Be entertained as Tommy Franklin, AKA Byron Dancing Man from Australia’s Got Talent, leads a flash mob in a dance to be remembered.

Australia’s National Anthem | 7.00-7.10pm nightly

Energex Community Arena

A nightly Australian tribute show featuring the National Anthem and Guruman Dancers  who will welcome guests to Queensland Police Service, Australian Light Horse, RNA Redcoats and The Young Australian Talent Company.

X-treme Action – Featuring the Transformers | 7:10 – 7:30pm nightly

Energex Community Arena

Brisbane Kids will be in awe as  Bublebee and Optimus Prime transform into Monster Trucks and V8 utes before their very eyes in the Energex Community Arena. Bumblebee and Optimus Prime will join the FMX crew and the Quads hitting the ramps for the very first time at the Ekka and event the new Razor Jeep will be going airborne!  The entire family will sit in awe of this extreme action packed show full of wheelies, jumps, monster trucks crushing power, flares,  lasers and explosions!

James Blundell  | 7:30 – 7:45pm nightly

Energex Community Arena

One of Australia’s most loved country music singer/songwriters, James Blundell, Queensland’s own CMC Hall of Fame legend,  will be singing all his country hits including Way Out West as he is supported by The Kelly Gang band.

EkkaNITES Fireworks Spectacular | 7:45 – 8pm nightly

Energex Community Arena

More fireworks = more fun for 2015! A spectacular that promises to top all previous Ekka nighttime fireworks displays with new experiences and new elements including fire ball explosions, skylighter fireworkx bazookas and coloured flames from 18 separate firing points across the arena.

Sideshow Alley

Sideshow Alley is incredible at night! Even if they don’t venture onto any rides, Brisbane Kids shouldn’t miss the bright lights and exciting sounds of Sideshow Alley in the evening. Show them these sights from up above with a ride on the iconic Ferris Wheel, or spin them out with a whizz on the Chair-O-Plane (preferably before downing a dagwood dog!).
