Queensland Symphony Orchestra: Peter and The Wolf | Brisbane October 2016

The Queensland Symphony Orchestra presents Peter and the Wolf at the QSO Studio in South Bank in June 2017.

Peter and The Wolf: Queensland Symphony Orchestra in Concert

Get ready to introduce your Brisbane Kids to the wonderful world of music and bring them along to the Courier Mail Piazza to see the Queensland Symphony Orchestra perform Peter and the Wolf.

Every year the Queensland Symphony Orchestra put on a series of family friendly concerts in order to introduce children to the range of orchestral instruments where they are encouraged to listen, dance and enjoy music in a fun environment. Last year the Queensland Symphony Orchestra’s concert series featured Shake Rattle and Blow, Stories, Legends and Fairytales, Lights, Camera Action! and the ever popular festive family music concert Symphonic Santa, and this year’s series is bigger and better than ever – and already into the third family show of the 2016 season! Peter and the Wolf is set to impress.

Peter and the Wolf takes Brisbane Kids on a wonderful musical adventure in Prokofiev’s enchanting tale. The perfect introduction to classical music, this light-hearted symphony tells the story of courageous Peter and his animal friends outwitting a fierce Wolf. The true heroes of this performance however are the instruments, with the strings, woodwinds, brass and percussion each representing different characters in the story; and it is absolutely amazing to hear these instruments play the different animals.

Narrated live by actor Jason Klarwein, The Queensland Symphony Orchestra allows everyone to share the joy of this classic tale with family and friends which, 81 years on, still lives on in the hearts of children young and old.

The concert will also feature a selection of music inspired by wildlife, including Mussorgsky’s Ballet of the Unhatched Chicks which conjures the flurry of a farmyard and Saint-Saëns’ Elephant from Carnival of the Animals, a waltz featuring double bass and piano.

The Queensland Symphony Orchestra’s Peter and the Wolf will not disappoint. As with all of the Queensland Symphony Orchestra’s shows, it will be an awesome performance full of amazing music and songs, and a host that will guarantee the event is fun for Brisbane Kids and their parents – making it a show that you and your Brisbane Kids will not want to miss.
