PlayConnect Playgroups – For Children with ASD
PlayConnect is a national playgroup program for families of young children on the Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) or displaying ASD-like symptoms. There are approximately 42 PlayConnect playgroups across Australia, with seven currently based in Queensland.
What is PlayConnect Playgroups?
PlayConnect playgroups are play-based groups formed to support family and children with ASD. They are run by an experienced facilitator and pride themselves on bringing families together, where children can play and learn in a safe, supportive and engaging environment.
Who can attend PlayConnect Playgroups?
PlayConnect playgroups are open to children between 0 – 5 years old, with ASD or those displaying ASD-type behaviours. In addition, the siblings and carers of the above-mentioned children are also welcome, which helps in creating a wonderful family-friendly atmosphere.
No formal diagnosis or NDIS plan is necessary in order for participants to attend the playgroup.

PlayConnect playgroups have a variety of activities on offer to help entertain, engage and support visiting families including:
- Art and craft
- Sensory play
- Singing, music and movement
- Story time
- Imaginative play
- Indoor and outdoor activities

The benefits of attending a PlayConnect playgroup are multi-facetted, not only benefiting the child but also their siblings and carers. Sessions are free to attend and are supported by trained facilitators, which enables a fun and safe place for children and families to play, connect and grow.
