Ferdinand The Review
Along with 5 lucky Brisbane families who won our recent competition, we were invited to attend the preview screening of Ferdinand in early December. Having never read the book, we were unsure of the exact story of Ferdinand, but knew from the movie previews it was a story about a bull who did not want to be a fighter. We discovered the movie was about this…and a lot more! I don’t think I have ever been to a screening of a kids movie with so much laughter. You can tell the guys from Blue Sky Studios, famous for the Ice Age franchise, had added their touch to the movie with their sense of humour shining through the characters. While there were lots of laughs, the movie also pulled on the heart strings communicating a message about the importance of friendship, family and not judging people by their appearance. We loved Ferdinand and the entire family left the cinema talking about what an incredi-bull movie it was.

Coco The Review
We were lucky to be invited along to a special preview of the newest Disney Pixar movie, Coco, and have to say that the whole family loved it! We laughed and cried as the movie delivered a great message about the importance of family and following your passion. Not knowing much about the tradition of Day of the Dead, the movie was also informative, culturally interesting and provided a beautiful way to explain what may happen to us after we die which has lead to a lot of great conversations between Miss 8, Master 10 and myself. Although a lot of the movie features skeletons, Coco is presented in a way that is not scary for Brisbane Kids. On a side note, If you get the chance to see Coco in 3D do it. We were lucky enough to see it in 3D and the animation was amazing. Coco has to be on your must see summer movies list these school holiday, we will be joining the crowds and watching it again when it hits cinemas on Boxing Day!
