Mother’s Day Classic
Mother’s Day in South Bank is celebrated every year with the Mother’s Day Classic. A sea of pink shirts floods the riverside as Brisbane families start the morning with a run to raise fund for breast cancer research. There is a course for every fitness ability and you can choose from a 4.5km or 8km walk or run. After your run, you can enjoy all the delights that South Bank and nearby West End have to offer. Start Mother’s Day at a free Yoga session at Darling Point Park. The whole family can enjoy a sweet-tempered free yoga session by the beautiful Manly foreshore before enjoying the delights of the markets and cafe. Whether it is breakfast, brunch, lunch or dinner, Victoria Park have you covered for Mother’s day! This year Victoria Park are offering delicious breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner options that will please every member of the family and take the pressure of planning, cooking and cleaning. The Mother’s Day Breakfast in the Marquee is a great start to the day with a delicious breakfast buffet featuring hot and cold seasonal delights. A glass of sparkling is served to all mums on arrival and there is a kid’s area with face painting, a magician and jumping castle as well a special pamper zone just for mum.
Victoria Park’s Mother’s Day Champagne Brunch in the Ballroom is another great option that will have guests enjoying live music entertainment, MUMM bubbles on arrival, dessert platters, a chocolate fountain and cheese stations along with lots of savoury delights.
A less formal option is to book breakfast, lunch or dinner at the Victoria Park Bistro where all mums will enjoy a complimentary glass of sparkling with lunch or dinner and the whole family can make the most of kids playground, giant games area and jumping castle. Plus the Putt-Putt course will be open early to late so the whole family can enjoy a round – just make sure you let Mum tee off first, it is her day after all!

Ferny Hills Picnic in the Park
The Ferny Hills Festival coincides with Mother’s Day each year and as a nod to the important women in our lives, they are hosting an enjoyable afternoon in the park to celebrate Mother’s Day. The annual Hills Mother’s Day Picnic in the Park is a relaxing afternoon where you can take your pick from a range of food stalls and grab a spot to settle in and listen to the live music – just remember to bring a picnic blanket or folding chair. Sweet As Dessert Festival
If Mum, Grandma, Nanna or Aunty has a sweet tooth then there is really no other option but to take them along to the Sweet As Dessert Festival. Held on both Saturday and Sunday, expect brownies, cheese, chocolate, coffee, cupcakes, doughnuts, gelatos, ice-creams, macarons, marshmallows, meringues, popsicles, sorbets, waffles and lots more from an awesome line-up of Queensland’s best dessert makers. Street food, live music, pop-up bars, dessert cocktails, kids activities and entertainment as well as cooking demonstrations will be held throughout the day. There will also be Redlands best strawberry dessert competition and a storytelling contest to crown ‘Redlands Sweet As Mum’ with the funniest anecdotes. Mother’s Day Picnic Steam Train
Spoil Mum on Mother’s Day and take a tip on the Pioneer Steam Train to the Swanbank Food Fair. A journey on the Picnic Train will take the whole family from Bundamba Racecourse Station to Swanbank Station. Once you arrive, a selection food stalls on site allow you to mix, match and purchase your perfect meal and enjoy some live entertainment in the park before returning to Bundamba Racecourse. Mother’s Day High Tea at the Shingle Inn
Celebrate Mother’s Day with a High Tea at the oldest and most loved café in Brisbane- The Shingle Inn City Hall. Mother’s Day Picnic at Tommerup’s Farm
Escape the city for the day and enjoy a picnic on the farm as Tommerup’s Farm open their farm gates to the public. Recognising that Mum’s are worth celebrating, Tommerups Farm is ensuring everyone has a great day with animal feeding, pumpkin smashing pig feeding, free face painting, market stalls, live music and the Australian Bush Buddies native animal interactive demonstrations. Botonica and Riverside Markets at the City Botanic Gardens
Head along to the Riverside Markets, a weekend farmers market, located in the City Botanic Gardens and the lower block of Albert Street. Head in early for breakfast and stay for the great atmosphere. The entire family can enjoy great coffee, brunch, live bands and browse the extensive range of fashion, organic fruit and vegetables, arts and gifts- Mum might even be able to treat herself to a special Mother’s Day present. As an added bonus, Botoanica, an outdoor art gallery exhibition is also happening at the same time at the City Botanic Garden, so there will be much more for the whole family to explore on Mother’s day in the Botanic Gardens this year! Mother’s Day by the Bay
If mum is a fan of music, head along to Manly Harbour Village where you will find swing bands and brass bands entertaining the crowds at the water’s edge, along with a diverse range of local community groups with markets, food stalls and sea breezes. Mother’s Day at The Museum of Brisbane
If mum is a fan of art look no further than the Museum of Brisbane who are putting on some awesome activities just for Mum! Mother’s Day Screen Printing Sunday is a free event (that requires bookings) and will see the whole family celebrate Mother’s Day and make a BAD impression with a signature BRISBANE ART DESIGN (BAD) logo graphic print. Bring any cotton rich* materials including a t-shirt, tote or other textile item for a free screen-printed BAD design. The second activity is a Mother’s Day Family Tree Collage where artist and designer Sam Parsons of Studio Sam guides you and your family in the design and creation of a unique collage family tree. Children, parents and grandparents can collaborate to realise an artwork to take home and treasure.
