Mango Hill Playground For Kids At Capestone Park
With tropical landscaping, an abundance of sand, and a water play area, Capestone Park will keep busy Brisbane kids entertained.
The Capestone Playground
Set in a residential area, Capestone Park is like a tropical oasis, with play equipment to suit all ages. As you approach the playground the first thing you’ll notice is the large climbing web, though the first ropes are high enough that the structure is best suited for older children. There is a plastic tunnel slide for a quick trip back down from the top. Shade sails cover the other play equipment, which includes is a basket swing, a netted spinner, a digger and a wall with a target on it.
The main feature of this park is the functional water pump, which is operated by lifting a lever up and down. Owing to the height, size and muscle power required, toddlers may struggle with it, but pre-schoolers will have a blast! It’s a great way to wear them out while having fun. By lifting the lever up and down it feeds the water tables, complete with plugs; each level draining to the one below it. Set back from the play equipment is a table tennis table (BYO bats and balls) and two handball courts.
The Imagination Factor
Climb the rope climbing structure like a pirate ye scurvy sea dogs, dig for treasure in the sand, or lay in the basket swing and take a rest like a pirate in a hammock. Bring some water play toys and utilise the water tables, experimenting with water levels using the plugs and the pump. Using sand, sticks and rocks, together you can build a water course for the water flow.
If construction is more to your Brisbane Kid’s interest, there’s the sit on digger and an abundance of sand. Bring the tip trucks, buckets and spades and build a track, a small city or sandcastles. With a real beach theme and an abundance of sand, your child’s imagination is their only limit.
There is a small carpark on Hahn Street which is connected by a concrete path to the play and BBQ shelter. There are two BBQs under the shelter with table and chairs overlooking the play space. While all the play equipment has a sand base, it is surrounded by concrete paths. The small grassed area is good for small ball games, but not large enough for large games. This is an estate playground so there are no toilets.
