Learn to Swim at Brisbane City Council Pools

Brisbane City Council swimming pools offer amazing facilities that are available for all the public to use and include learn to swim programs at 21 different locations across Brisbane. More than 562,700 children’s learn to swim lessons were conducted last year at these pools with programs on offer to suit all children’s ages and abilities.

Learn to Swim at Brisbane City Council Pools

Below is a list of Brisbane City Council pools across Brisbane offering learn to swim programs. Please note that some of the facilities are currently closed for the winter period but will open 22 September 2018.

Acacia Ridge Leisure Centre, Acacia Ridge

Operated by the YMCA, the learn to swim lessons at Acacia Ridge Leisure Centre are conducted in an indoor heated pool. Lessons are offered all year round and are available for children from four months of age right through to adults. Children with special needs are also catered for in this facility with specially qualified staff on hand to assist. Lessons run on a ten-week term basis. This facility provides a safe place to learn with qualified instructors to help your child have fun, learn new skills and progress with their development.

Bellbowrie Pool, Belbowrie

Bellbowrie Pool offers a 50m outdoor pool, 25m heated shaded pool, toddler wading pool and a splash water play pad with features. The facility is operated through Just Sports n Fitness and offers a great learn to swim program. Their aim is to teach kids in a fun environment while helping them to develop skills at their own pace. They keep class sizes small to make sure every child receives personal and individual attention. The qualified teachers provide regular assessments to monitor your child’s progress.

Carole Park Swim Centre, Wacol

Carole Park Swim Centre features a 25m outdoor heated pool, a beach pool and a wading pool. It provides learn to swim lessons through Just Sports n Fitness, who aim to teach kids in an enjoyable environment while helping them to develop their skills at their own pace. They even offer FREE lessons for babies under six months old.

Centenary Pool / Spring Hill Baths, Spring Hill

Centenary Pool and the Spring Hill Baths are an aquatic institution in Brisbane due to the heritage significance surrounding both sites. Swimming lessons are offered through Rackley Swimming, a family-owned swim school that aims to teach children to develop the skills and confidence they need in order to be safe both in and around the water. Their program is available for all ages from four months up and are held in the comfort of heated pools all year round.

Chermside Pool, Chermside

Chermside Pool boasts Brisbane’s largest waterpark for fun and action like no other can offer. It also has a 25m lap pool and indoor program pool. The swimming lessons are provided by Rackley Swimming and are conducted in the indoor heated pool. The program caters to all ages from four months. The centre also offers a range of group fitness activities and has a cafe and loads of shaded leisure areas.

Colmslie Pool, Morningside

Colmslie Pool is located within the Colmslie Recreation Reserve. It includes a 50m lap pool, and an indoor heated programs pool where all lessons are conducted year round. Lessons are offered by Rackley Swimming for four months and over. The program aims to teach children to develop the skills and confidence they need to be safe both in and around the water.

Dunlop Park Memorial Swimming Pool, Corinda

Dunlop Park Memorial Pool offers learn to swim lessons from 6 months of age upwards. For three-to-six-month-olds, they offer FREE water familiarisation classes. Lessons are offered 7 days per week and are conducted in heated pools. Class levels are based on ability and a free assessment is offered to gauge the level of your child. They also offer a beginner swimming program for adults.

Emily Seebohm Aquatic Centre

Emily Seebohm Aquatic Centre, Fitzgibbon

The Emily Seebohm Aquatic Centre features two heated pools, both with ramp access. One is an outdoor 25m pool while the other is an indoor heated programs pool. All lessons are conducted in the indoor pool. For people with special needs, the indoor pool is also fitted with a ceiling-mounted hoist for ease of access. On site there is also a large grass leisure area with shaded seating and BBQ. This centre offers both children’s and adults’ learn to swim programs, as well as children’s squad coaching, aqua aerobics and water-based physiotherapy.

Hibiscus Sports Complex Pool, Upper Mount Gravatt

Located within the Hibiscus Sports Complex, this facility has loads of water space that caters to all user groups. There is a 50m outdoor heated lap pool, a 12m indoor heated pool for learn to swim classes and rehabilitation purposes an outdoor 25m heated lap pool that is fully shaded all year round, a kids play pool with spray features and a 20m enclosed slide that the kids just love. Lessons are offered by Rackley Swimming for children four months and over. The program aims to teach children to develop the skills and confidence they need to be safe both in and around the water.

Ithaca Pool, Paddington

Ithaca Pool has a 25m heated pool with a specially designed learn to swim area to one side. The 25m pool has a wheelchair access ramp. There is also a kiosk and a range of activities, including a family oriented Aqua Club. There are children’s group classes for ages nought to fourteen, as well as private children’s classes and private adult classes.

Jindalee Pool, Jindalee

The aim of Jindalee Pool’s Make A Splash Swim School is to provide an environment for children to learn to swim that is fun, happy, stimulating and encouraging. Lessons are conducted all year round in an indoor heated pool. Small, personalised swim classes ensure your child receives the individual attention required to keep them smiling while learning. There’s also a 50m heated outdoor lap pool, children’s aquatic play area and BBQ.

Langlands Park Memorial Pool, Stones Corner

While Langlands Park Memorial Pool is currently undergoing major refurbishments, including the building of a brand new indoor program pool, the pools is still open and has lessons daily. Lessons are offered all year round and is operated through Story Time who have developed a great family friendly environment for learning how to swim. The facility also includes a 50m pool and toddlers pool.

Manly Pool, Manly

Set on the foreshore next door to the Manly Marina, Manly Pool offers more than just a great view. Onsite there is a 25m outdoor heated pool, a safe and secure kids’ fun splash pool and a large twisting and turning waterslide. Manly Pool offers learn to swim lessons for kids from three months. Sit back and enjoy a great coffee in a relaxed atmosphere while your children learn one of life’s great lessons – learning to swim!

Mt Gravatt East Swimming Pool, Mt Gravatt East

Operated by the staff of Sam Riley’s Swim Schools, lessons at Mt Gravatt East Swimming Pool are conducted in the large indoor heated programs pool. The swimming lessons on offer include an infant and toddler program, water confidence program, stroke development program, squads and school swimming. The qualified instructors balance professionalism and enjoyment to make sure your child has fun as they learn. There’s also an outdoor 25m heated lap pool and café.

Newmarket Olympic Swimming Pool

Newmarket Olympic Swimming Pool, Newmarket

The go to place for fun in Brisbane, the Newmarket Olympic Swimming Pool has lots of children’s aquatic facilities including a large waterslide for the adventurous, a no-depth play pad with drop buckets and spray features, and two interactive toddlers pools. Millers Swim School offers swim lessons for both kids and adults in a friendly, nurturing and professional environment. Lessons are conducted in an indoor heated program pool. They aim to promote water confidence and swimming skills in order to enable children and adults to be around and in water with safety and enjoyment. Swim lessons are available for kids from the age of six months.

Parkinson Aquatic Centre, Parkinson

Parkinson Aquatic Centre is a state-of-the-art facility featuring a 50m outdoor heated lap pool, and an indoor heated programs pool, both with ramp access. Swimming lessons are offered by Rackley Swimming for four months and over. The program aims to teach children to develop the skills and confidence they need in order to be safe both in and around the water. Parents can reward themselves by sitting back in a relaxed atmosphere and enjoy a coffee from the café.

Runcorn Pool, Runcorn

Runcorn Pool features a heated 25m outdoor lap pool, 20m indoor program pool and children’s pool with water features. Swimming lessons are offered by Rackley Swimming for four months of age and over and are conducted in the indoor pool all year round.

Valley Pool, Fortitude Valley

The Valley Pool is a popular venue for elite swimmers and athletes, as well as recreational swimmers. It has a 50m outdoor, heated pool, which is also an event pool for water sports. The venue offers swimming lessons for adults, squad swimming and stroke development.

Yeronga Park Memorial Pool training

Yeronga Park Memorial Pool, Yeronga

Bali in Brisbane is how you will remember this wonderful facility. Offering great facilities including indoor heated programs pool, outdoor heated 50m and 25m lap pools and an interactive features pool that caters to children. Yeronga Park Memorial Pool offers learn to swim classes seven days a week across all three pools, all year around. The swimming program has six levels to make sure your child gains fundamental skills and develops and strengthens their swimming as they move up through the levels, with certificates awarded for each level graduation.
