Jugar : Eat, Play, Drink Reviewed

child friendly cafe playground

Jugar pronounced hway-gar started as a concept to create a welcoming and beautiful space for families to enjoy a meal together.

Siblings Jenny and Corsino weren’t satisfied with existing dining options for families and had a feeling there was a gap in current offerings. Jugar was created.

It’s a simple and inviting space which is great for catching up with friends for coffee and a sweet treat or having a family meal.

The Jugar Menu

Breakfast for kids

The kids’ menu is a reflection of the adults’ menu with breakfast and lunch options. On the breakfast menu, there are the traditional items such as kids bacon and eggs your way, or buttermilk pancakes with chocolate sauce, fresh berries, ice cream, meringue crumb and fairy floss.

Jugar also offer healthier options such as coconut black rice porridge with granny smith apple, toasted almond flakes and pure maple syrup or smashed avocado on rye.

Breakfast for grown-ups

For the grown-ups, you can’t go past the Breakfast Burger with smokehouse bacon, grilled cheddar cheese, fried egg, pickles, tomato relish and rocket. YUM! Regular favourites are also available with Eggs Your Way or Smashed Avocado on rye with tomato, parsley, beetroot hummus, smoked labneh, black mineral salt zaatar, rocket, pomegranate molasses.

Lunch and Dinner for kids

Lunchtime offerings are equally appealing with popcorn fried chicken with vegetable chips, or grilled chicken nachos. A healthier option would be the Kids’ Bowl with beetroot hummus, quinoa, pumpkin, poached egg, fresh avocado and mushroom. On the menu, there are meals that are either gluten-free, vegan or both.

Lunch and Dinner for grown-ups

Lunch and dinner options range from Wagyu New York Strip Loin, fish of the day to a Jugar Bowl consisting of quinoa, fresh avo, grilled halloumi, roasted pumpkin, fermented cabbage, kale, soft poached egg.

An essential to any café, Jugar serves the locally roasted Bellissimo coffee with soy, almond, and lactose-free milk. They are also licenced, offering wine, cocktails, beers and spirits.
