Holy Family School is nestled in the Eastern side of Indooroopilly, approximately 6 km from the Brisbane CBD. Opened in 1927 by the Brigidine Sisters with the motto of ‘Strength and Gentleness’, the school very much embraces this motto today in the everyday life of the school.

Holy Family School is a Catholic Parish school under the direction of Brisbane Catholic Education and the Archdiocese of Brisbane. Students of Holy Family School come from the surrounding suburbs of Indooroopilly, St Lucia, Taringa, Toowong, Fig Tree Pocket and also the Centenary suburbs. Holy Family School in Indooroopilly runs a 1 to 1 laptop program from years 4-6, with a 1-2 Laptop program in Year 2-3 and iPad technology in Prep and Year 1. Their Interactive Library is an inviting hub for students to not only borrow books but learn chess and delve into the world of literature on their lunch breaks.

The school’s curriculum follows the National framework, with the addition of Religious Education. All classroom teachers are supported by the school’s Full-time Inclusion Teacher, onsite teachers for VisualĀ  & Performing Arts, ESL, ICT and Sport. Holy Family’s Performing Arts program has been the recipient of a number of consecutive National Awards.

Holy Family School’s SPARK enrichment program builds on the skills developed under the framework through engaging programs that include robotics and coding.

Special Needs

The Holy Family School’s Learning Support Unit is a well resourced and engaging environment that provides programs for both gifted children and those with learning difficulties, as well as behaviour management, peer mediation and anti bullying. Holy Family offers smaller class sizes, allowing greater learning outcomes for each child.

Students at Holy Family School have the opportunity to participate in Interstate and National Academic competitions. Senior students also take part in QDU Debating.

On the sporting field, the school has a dedicated Sports Coordinator offering a variety of sports in school. Children from years 4-7 participate in Interschool Soccer, Netball and Touch. Year 4 girls take part in a 10 week Netball induction run by qualified Netball coaches and referees. All students have the opportunity to participate in Regional Athletics and Swimming carnivals.

Optional after school activities at Holy Family School include Tennis, Speech and Drama and Chess. Before school, children can take on the challenge of Kilometre Club.

Holy Family School offers both before and after school care program.

Students come from the immediate surrounding suburbs of Taringa, St Lucia, Toowong, Chelmer and further out to Jindalee, Kenmore, Brookfield.
