The Harmony curriculum

Harmony’s vision is to nurture development that allows every child to discover their unlimited potential.

Their environments provide a space where children can develop into strong, confident, happy and healthy individuals in both mind and body.

The centre has implemented a holistic approach to early learning, based on extensive research and the work of renowned inspirational theorists.

Guided by Harmony’s Head of Curriculum, our qualified educators draw on the knowledge and philosophies from renowned theorists to create an environment that allows for exceptional learning and development.

The curriculum is built on the RIE philosophy—based on the respectful practices and life works of renowned childcare educators Magda Gerber and researcher and paediatrician, Dr Emmi Pikler. “Essentially, this is a philosophy that empowers children to be competent and confident in their bodies and abilities—one that ‘allows children to solve problems without interference’.

Harmony Early Learning Journey provides contemporary early childhood education, whilst also allowing children to develop 21st-century skills. They embrace the 21st-century skill sets that children will need as global citizens. These include critical thinking, problem-solving, creativity, innovation, communication, and collaboration.

The centre has also been exploring an additional set of skills that they believe may help to enhance the above. These skills include being compassionate, kind, respectful, mindful, empathetic, socially just, resilient, self-aware, and intellectually inquisitive.

The setting

The beautifully planned outdoor playscapes at Harmony Early Learning Journey Everton Park include plants, sand, vegetable and herb gardens, rocks, mounds, forts and water play, allowing children to capture their own interests. The outdoor naturalistic space also promotes and allows children to be courageous.

The concept of courageous play may seem in contrast to the need for young children to be nurtured in a safe environment. However, best practice shows the importance of incorporating adventurous play into a child’s early learning.

The service also includes a daily focus on art, physical literacy and yoga, nutritious and tasty meals for the children freshly prepared each day by the onsite chef.

What families have to say…

We could not be happier with our experience in this beautiful centre. It is child-centred throughout and that philosophy informs the resources, the processes, and the menu! Highly skilled and responsive team who have provided exceptional care for my family.‘ – Belinda

I am in love with this place so far. The day we did a tour I cried. Tears were very much of joy and relief! The space and care at Harmony fits in so well with our family ethics and morals. It was hard to have anywhere else meet the same standard, or expectations in a lot of different areas. Price is incredible and a lot cheaper than most (all) places I looked at Northside with what they include. They provide nappies and wipes. There is a chef on site, so all meals are made with love and thought and catered to dietary requirements (hello not having to make snacks/lunches for at least two days, woo!) The building is very secure with a great security system in place. The educators, directors, chef, everyone has been such a joy. There are great spaces inside and out and no space left without a purposeful thought of what it can be used for. Open ended toys galore. Flowing indoor outdoor play. Mist sprinklers outside to cool down the space when it gets too hot. No strict routines here, the team is led by your own child. Helping them learn more about their own body, and what it is telling them. Look, I could honestly go on and on. I rave about this place so often. It is a dream to be able to send my son here. Thank you Harmony.‘ – Lucy

We attended the opening launch of Harmony Everton Park and from the moment we stepped out of the elevator we were blown away with how amazing this place was. It is unlike any kindy I have ever seen and is run by some truly amazing educators. Having such easy and bubbly educators to leave our daughter with makes everything so much easier. The centre is amazing and so is the food that is prepared onsite by the chef. Could not ask for a better place for our daughter to go.‘ – Bradley
