Gainsborough Park in Mackenzie | Family picnic park under the trees
Gainsborough Park in Mackenzie is perfect for a little family picnic; with play equipment, wide bike and walking paths and plenty of shade.
Gainsborough Park – The Fun
Gainsborough Park has a small playground that is fenced from the road, making it safer for Brisbane Kids. The play equipment includes climbing structures, swings, slides and rockers. Several concrete paths make it great for bike and scooter riding. The playground and much of the space is shaded by large trees. Whilst there are no toilet facilities, there are tables, grassy open space and a barbeque for a family picnic. The lake area is home to much wildlife, including birds and ducks to feed.
The play equipment at Gainsborough Park sets Brisbane Kids up for games of adventure explorers; swinging above the snapping crocodiles in the river on the monkey bars. The sheltered area adjacent to the lake is fantastic for bird watching and feeding the water birds.
Unfortunately, Gainsborough Park does not have toilet facilities. There are several concrete paths throughout, though some are on a slope, so vigilance with littler Brisbane Kids is required. The playground is sheltered by shadesails and shady trees. The park has bench seating, a picnic shelter with a table, an unsheltered table, one electric barbeque and lots of shade. The playground equipment is suited to a variety of ages and abilities. The playground is only fenced on the road side. A drain exists near the playground, so supervision is required.
