Lawnton Pool and Aquatic Centre
If you live in the Lawnton, Strathpine, Bray Park, Petrie, Warner or Cashmere areas, a visit to the Lawnton Aquatic Centre is a must this season.
Even if you live further afield, it is worth the drive to this excellent facility that offers year round ‘learn to swim’ classes for young and old, public swimming and regular family friendly events.
Learn to swim at Lawnton Aquatic Centre
Lawnton Aquatic Centre is home to one of the largest learn to swim programs on Brisbane’s north side and it operates all year round. The program is designed to teach the skills of swimming, water safety and survival to people of any age or ability, including children with special needs.
To ensure best practice, the program is accredited with the Royal Life Saving Society Australia Swim and Survive Program and all teachers are Austswim qualified. Lessons run six days per week in the indoor heated pool. What’s more, you can start at any time without school terms interrupting you or your child’s progress.
Squad swimming at Lawnton Aquatic Centre
If you or your Brisbane Kid has progressed through lessons and wants to swim competitively or continue swimming for fun, squad swimming may be the answer.
Lawnton Aquatic Centre hosts the Lawnton Swim Club and offers coaching to children and adults that are interested in pursuing squad training and competitions.
Adults also have the option of swim fit or aqua aerobics classes – these are perfect for increasing endurance, muscle tone, flexibility, range of motion and strength.
Toddler pool – splash and play area
This fully fenced area comprises a pool with water features, a small playground, and an undercover seating area. It is the perfect place to meet up with other parents and let the kids cool off. Many a mother’s group meets in this spot – lots of activity in the water means tuckered out kids who sleep soundly afterwards!
