About Kids Art Fun
Founder of Kids Art Fun, Sophia Dias has held a passion for art from a young age. After studying a Bachelor of Fine Arts at the Art Institute of Boston, MA (USA), and educating designers and artists in New York and Japan, then teaching her own children, Sophia set out on a quest to teach the next generation of budding artists in Brisbane.
Sophia enjoys teaching and guiding her students through the key fundamental skills vital for child development and is looking forward to welcoming old and new students to her upcoming school holiday workshops and term classes in 2019.
Term based classes, Christmas and New Year casual classes are usually 1 hour in duration. However Kids Art Fun has created a 2 hour workshop this Christmas / New Year school holiday period that’s sure to excite the sewing and painting enthusiasts among the Brisbane Kids audience. Here’s a snapshot of what you can expect at a Kids Art Fun class –
Art & Craft Class
In this class, students will cover a wide variety of arts and crafts and also get inspired by artists around the world. Through projects such as drawing, painting, sculpture, collage, mosaic, collaborative artwork, clay and more, students will discover and learn to observe, create, balance, control hand pressure, cross the body’s midline, and experience tactile textures. All of which are vital for a child’s development. Kids Art Fun provides knowledge of the visual arts to children and challenges them to develop life-long skills such as analytical thinking, collaboration, and creativity. These skills are valuable in any career and give a rich, meaningful and engaged life. Creativity is also among the top five applied skills sought by business leaders. Through fun projects, Kids Art Fun train kids to build an aesthetic sensibility that can influence other areas of thinking.
In this class, students will unwind themselves to have fun painting on an oversized paper, explore making colour recipes, and of course controlled step-by-step paintings on a stretched canvas using an easel. Kids Art Fun will introduce some of the most influential artists around the world and talk about the styles and even some hidden secrets they had. For the technical side, they will be shown some new techniques, methods, shades and highlights which will be a whole new level for them to try. The students will also have an opportunity to paint whatever they wish towards the end of the term guidance. Each student will be engaged with their creativity as well as getting a chance to paint using some unusual and unique paintbrushes and fun paint mediums, a rare opportunity.
