UQ BLOOM Festival
Over the course of the festival we welcome students, staff, alumni and the UQ community to relax under their favourite jacarandas, enjoy the spectacular light show, live music, creative workshops, interactive exhibits and culinary delights. Join us to celebrate this beautiful time of year both online and on campus.
Festival Highlights include:
BLOOM Illuminate- Light and Sound display
UQ Lakes will illuminate from nightfall with BLOOM Festival’s first ever light and sound display. The sound production titled ‘Flourishing Hope’ was written exclusively for BLOOM by PHD student Taana Rose from the School of Music, symbolising a future post COVID-19 and the rebuilding of a new world.

The Lanyren Parde will be the closing event of the UQ BLOOM Festival and be part of something inspiring as the UQ Community marches in unison, igniting the path behind them.
The parade will start in the Great Court with an official welcome and will conclude by the stunning UQ Lakes, where a moments silence and reflection will be taken for those affected by the events of the year past.
Please note a limited number of lanterns will be available to carry on the night. Please arrive early if you wish to carry one in the parade. Or register for our upcoming lantern making workshops to design your own lantern and carry it with you on the night!

Lantern making workshops You can register to attend a number of our lantern making workshops during BLOOM Festival. Design your own, register it and pick it up on the night of the Lantern Parade to carry with you. You will be able to take your lantern with you at the end of the night. Please note if you are unable to attend the parade we are unable to guarantee your lantern will be available post the event.
