Spark Festival

SPARK Ipswich, is an 11-day city-wide event celebrating the people, places, arts and culture of Ipswich.

Running from 7 – 17 July, the 2022 program will deliver up a fresh program of festival content.  Music, comedy, arts, exhibitions, circus, projection, culture, cabaret, technology, collaboration and discussion will take over the City.

Highlights for Brisbane Kids and families  include:

  • SPARK After Dark: 7 – 17 July.FREE. When the sun goes down, SPARK AFTER DARK comes to life showcasing projections, light activations, music and performance. Gather your family and friends and explore deLight and pixel on foot, or view the light spectacle from luminate – the new festival hub in Timothy Molony Park.
  • Little Day Out: 17 July. $5 pp. Ipswich’s signature children’s contemporary music and arts festival is little by name but BIG on fun. With a focus on sustainability, Little Day Out is bursting with music, hands-on art experiences, food and roving entertainment.
  • Monster Siege- 8-10 July. $5pp. Monster Siege is sport for the non-sporty and arts for the nonarty. It is the high drama of a sports game with the critical thinking strategies of a complex computer game. The inevitable BATTLE  between Slobbers and Defenders is played and performed as GRANDE SPECTACLE THEATRE to an audience in the fresh air and sunshine.
  • Bunkasaurus: 27 June-8 July. $7pp. Award-winning Bunk Puppets, creators of ‘Swamp Juice’ and ‘Sticks Stones Broken Bones’, present this raucous, new, all-ages adventure! Forget what you think you know about shadow puppets, buckle-in and tear open your imagination for an epic journey with two brothers …
  • SPARK on Tour Presents A Bee Story: 7-10 July. $15 per family of 4. A Bee Story is a uniquely Australian physical theatre show for children and families incorporating a kaleidoscope of circus, acrobatics, dance and live music. Join the bees on their buzzy adventures and be enchanted by their pollen collecting skills, honey-making abilities, and super-bee strength. A Bee Story has themes of environmentalism, sustainability, and community spirit.
