Shell Questacon Science Circus

Levitating beach balls, a bed of nails and the science behind liquid nitrogen are part of the Shell Questacon Science Circus in the City of Logan this Saturday.

The free pop-up exhibition is at the Logan Metro Sports & Events Centre. It will feature 40 hands-on displays, spectacular 30-minute science shows will also run every half hour from 10am to 3pm. There will be a tent for capturing your own shadow and a device to track how fast you can throw a ball.

The Science Circus is an initiative of Questacon, Shell and The Australian National University. It is one of the most extensive science outreach programs of its kind in the world. The team travels across the country inspiring Australia’s young scientists. They travel around 25,000 kilometres and engage with more than 100,000 people each year.

The Science Circus comprises 16 postgraduate students. They are studying a Master of Science Communication (Outreach) at the Centre for the Public Awareness of Science at The Australian National University.
