Pallara District Park Opening

September 14. 2019

2:00 pm - 5:00 pm Free
Pallara Disrict Park opening

An action-packed afternoon of free family entertainment from “bubble’’ sports for kids to a visit by Nickelodeon’s Skye of PAW Patrol will help launch an exciting $2 million-plus transformation of Pallara District Park.

The high-energy celebrations, on 14 September from 2pm to 5pm, will give families their first opportunity to explore the new-look park, set to become a regional destination with its new central playground including an innovative 190-metre learn-to-ride bicycle circuit and 10-metre high climbing tower, swings, exercise stations with mobile app workouts, barbecue shelters and picnic areas.

Children are encouraged to bring their bikes and test the loop, complete with speed humps, street markings, intersections and signage. Free one-hour workshops will offer expert tips on cycling for different ages and skill levels, and there will be free maintenance servicing for 30 bikes on the day.

Kids will also be able to explore a fire truck, meet Nickelodeon’s Skye from the animated series PAW Patrol, and dress in 1.5 metre high “bubble balls’’ for an afternoon of fun games including bubble soccer, sumo, tag, and bulldog.

Councillor Steve Griffiths (Moorooka) will be offering herb plants to complement a terracotta pot decorating workshop during the afternoon. Agility dogs will show off their amazing skills in a special demonstration, the team at Willawong Rehoming Animal Centre will conduct a workshop on animal care, and local police will be there to meet families and allow children to get up close to a police car.
