Dogs In The Schoolyard @ QPAC
A spectacular circus tail for the whole pack
A fun, modern fable combining storytelling, original music and amazing circus for children aged 3 to 8 years and their families.
On a hot summer afternoon, the dogs in the schoolyard clamber over each other, leaping, running, eating, playing. By the fig tree at the bottom of the oval – where teachers seldom venture – everyone knows the rules, and everyone knows their place. But today things are different, the storm birds are circling, and a new dog has arrived…
Dogs in the Schoolyard explores themes of inclusion and exclusion, friendship, play, and resilience through the lens of young dogs’ experiences with other pups. It brings together sensitive storytelling and phenomenal circus skills to immerse audiences in a world ruled by dogs and with unbounded opportunities for play!
Flipside Circus is Queensland’s largest youth arts organisation. Its artistic programs are all about empowering children and young people to tell their own stories and shape their vision for the future. Flipside’s 2018 production We Live Here won two Matilda Awards as Best Circus or Physical Theatre Work and Best Director.
