DIY Cake Bunting
How to Make Bunting for Cakes
You too can make gorgeous cakes for your Brisbane Kids with this beautiful cake-topper bunting! Fantastically simple, this cake decoration will give even a plain cake that ‘WOW’ factor.
Organise all of your materials
What you will need:
- A selection of paint sample cards
- Paper straws (or bamboo skewers)
- Cotton twine
- Glue stick or sticky tape
Trace a diamond shape onto the back of a paint sample card. This shape (when folded) will become the bunting flag. We recommend an approximate width of 2cm across the centre of the diamond and the edges approximately 3cm long.
Cut out the diamond shape and use this as a template to trace and then cut out more diamonds from the paint sample cards so that you have a selection of bunting flags.
Fold bunting flags over the cotton twine and secure in place with tape or glue. Arrange in a pattern and tie ends of cotton twine to paper straws.
And you are ready to enjoy the cuteness of your DIY bunting!
TIP: Place bunting into cake just before serving as the straws may absorb moisture from the cake and lose their strength.
