Country Style Caravan Park Review – family friendly camping in Stanthorpe
Stanthorpe, located approximately three hours west of Brisbane in the Granite Belt wine region, has been crowned the coldest town in Queensland. For families wanting to experience a true winter (including occasional snow!), or for those wanting to escape Brisbane’s humidity in summer, a road trip to Stanthorpe makes the perfect family getaway. Country Style Caravan Park is just a few minutes south of Stanthorpe and is a hidden gem for families wanting to cosy up by a fire in one of their well-appointed cabins. There’s also plenty of powered sites for those that prefer to bring the caravan and wide-open spaces by the river that are perfect for pitching a tent.
Camping at Country Style Caravan Park in Stanthorpe
Spread over 12 acres and backing onto the tranquil Severn River is the family-friendly Country Style Caravan Park. There are three accommodation options to choose from: unpowered camping sites nestled among the native eucalyptus trees, large drive-through powered sites for motorhomes or caravans/campervans and fully self-contained ensuite cabins.
The camping sites are set along the picturesque Severn River, however, due to the ongoing drought, the river is currently dry. The camping area features fire pits that are perfect for warming your toes by on the cooler evenings.
For those that prefer powered sites, the quiet and flat pads in the centre of the park are peacefully located with views over the neighbouring vineyard. Each site has access to water and plenty of room for awnings. Campers and caravanners can also make use of the camp kitchen and barbecues, laundry facilities and clean amenities blocks.
The park also offers six fully self-contained ensuite cabins, some with cosy wood burners and some with electric heating, which is very welcome on those cold and frosty mornings. There are also non-ensuite bunk-style cabins with verandahs for larger groups. The ensuite cabins include a kitchen, bathroom, television, heating and cooling, double bed, bunk beds (sleeping two people) and room for a camp stretcher if another bed is needed. There’s also undercover parking for one car.
Clean, well-behaved and vaccinated pets are also welcome to stay, either in the camping area or the cabins, but ask for approval from management first. Also worth noting is that Country Style Caravan Park is part of the Family Parks network and offers all members a 10% discount on their stay.

Activities to enjoy at Country Style Caravan Park in Stanthorpe
One of the best things about this caravan park is that there is plenty of space for kids to play. It’s also a great place to sit and appreciate nature – there’s a ton of birdlife and you can even try a spot of fishing in the Severn River (when it is flowing). For the kids, there is a giant chess set to play with, or they can ride their bikes around the quiet park. In the evenings, kids will love toasting marshmallows around a campfire and looking for shooting stars in the glittering, star-filled night sky.
It’s also the closest caravan park to the spectacular Giraween National Park which offers a number of family-friendly hikes. Also nearby is the stunning Bald Rock National Park, Sundown National Park and Storm King Dam.
Stanthorpe and the Granite Belt Wine Region is also known for its good food and wine, made from local produce. The hosts of Country Style Caravan Park, Kim and Jamaine, can point you in the direction of the most family-friendly wineries, breweries, cafes and restaurants in the area.
