Australia Day is fast approaching and as the temperatures start to soar so too does our patriotic excitement for the land we are lucky enough to call our home.  If you are looking for a fitting way to celebrate our island paradise then this year you need look no further than our beautiful Moreton Bay Region.  This coastal area complete with sun-soaked beaches and laid back community spirit are gearing up to host some pretty rippa family-friendly Australia Day celebration parties – and they are FREE.  If you are chasing the sun, surf and a snag this Australia Day in the Moreton Bay Region then check out these two great events they are hosting.

Australia Day in Redcliffe

When: Thursday 26 January, 2017

Time: 2pm – 8pm

Where: Suttons Beach, Redcliffe

Cost: FREE

The gorgeous Suttons Beach in Redcliffe is the backdrop for this afternoon / evening event which promises to be a memorable celebration that the entire family will enjoy.  With traditional Australia Day activities such as thong throwing competitions, beach cricket and, of course, the good old fashioned Aussie BBQ you can’t go wrong but for those chasing a little more crazy fun then the toilet races, beach activities or giant games are sure to make you smile.  There will also be live stage entertainment to dance along to and an array of market and food stalls to explore. After all the day’s excitement you can well and truly end the celebrations with a bang with the huge fireworks display that will close this Australia Day in the Moreton Bay Region event from 7:30pm.

Australia Day in Bribie Island

Time: 7:30am – 8pm

Where: Brennan and Apex Parks, Bribie Island

Cost: FREE

If you are keen to make the most of your Australia Day then head to Brennan and Apex Parks where celebrations are due to kick off early with a free Aussie breakfast.  The Bribie Island Lions and Cornetts Super IGA will be serving it up from 7:30am and with all the days activities that are planned you may want to make an early start of it.  On top of the usual Aussie Day games and activities, from 2pm there will also be live stage entertainment, market and food stalls and a traditional BBQ as well.  You may be up early but you will definitely want to stick around until the end to see the impressive fireworks display that kicks off from 7:30pm.
