With all the traditional country show treats such as equestrian events, arts and crafts and even a rodeo, it is a great opportunity for kids and grown-ups alike to experience the fun and adventure of a show without the expense and crowds of the Brisbane Ekka.
When is the Brookfield Show in Brisbane?
The Brookfield Show, traditionally in May each year, is held at the picturesque Brookfield Showgrounds in the outer western suburbs of Brisbane; about a half hour drive from the city.
This year it will be held from the 19th – 21st May 2017.
What can you see and do at the Brookfield Show?
The first day of the Brookfield Show is when show activities begin on the Thursday. This is when the art, photography, needlework and woodwork competitions reveal their winners. Friday is District Day. On this day, you will be able to witness horse events for local riders, horses and owners. Side Show Alley and live entertainment also gets the crowds buzzing with all the kids’ favourite rides and side show games, and the rodeo kicks off.
The Brookfield Show sees a plethora of entertainment for families, with ring events and live entertainment such as music performances, wood chopping, and fashion parades by local schools. On all three days of the Brookfield Show kids can enjoy free face painting and balloon twisting, as well as rock climbing and a venomous snake show and reptile display. The judging of competitions such as horticulture, poultry, water fowl and guinea pigs also provides fun viewing for families. In the evenings you can enjoy live music in the Happy Hour Bar, chat with the ever friendly locals and visitors alike, and finish the evening with a bang with a sensational Fireworks show that’s not to be missed on Saturday and Sunday nights.
For the first time, in 2017, the Brookfield Show will be offering an all day ride pass which means that your Brisbane Kids can have fun on the rides all day for only $45.
