Get ready to enjoy an Australian classic with a modern twist – just in time for the September school holidays – with Blinky Bill set to hit our big screens in 2015.
Blinky Bill, everyone’s favourite koala, has a huge imagination. He is an adventurer at heart, with big dreams of leaving his little home town of Green Patch to follow in his missing father’s footsteps. When Blinky Bill discovers a mysterious marker that could hold clues to his father’s location, he embarks on an epic journey which takes him beyond the Green Patch boundaries and into the wild and sometimes dangerous Australian outback.
Joined on his adventure are new friends Nutsy, a zoo koala, and Jacko, a nervous frill-neck lizard. They are also being pursued by a vengeful cat who has a personal score to settle with Blinky Bill, making it essential for the trio to learn how to work together in order to survive the outback and find Blinky’s missing father.
Directed by Deane Taylor, in collaboration with Noel Cleary, Alexs Stadermann and Alex Weight, the Blinky Bill animated film is brought to life with the voices of Ryan Kwanten, Toni Collette, Barry Humphries and David Wenham, in an adventure tale that is bound to appeal to all generations.
The animation of the characters and the stunning Australian scenery is excellent. The characters really seem to come to life in this modern version of the traditional cartoon, and there’s plenty of funny Aussie lingo and little giggles for the adults too. There are a couple of scenes involving chasing from the fierce cat and escaping hungry crocs that very little ones might find scary, but overall it’s a heart-warming tale of adventure and friendship, with underlying messages about saving wildlife, keeping promises and accepting everyone into a community, even outsiders.
Blinky Bill: The Movie will be released in cinemas nationally on 17 September 2015.
