Basketball Queensland is the not-for-profit governing body for basketball in the state, representing more than 22,000 players, coaches, officials and administrators of the sport, with affiliate associations right across Queensland. Basketball Queensland administers a number of competitions and programs throughout the year, including the Basketball Queensland Junior Basketball Competition, the annual junior state championships, and the Queensland Basketball League. Basketball is one of the most popular sports in Australia, is a non-contact sport and provides a safe and enjoyable opportunity for players of all age groups right throughout the year, with many of our associations boasting state-of-the-art stadium facilities.
Our competitions and development programs cater for those just starting out in the sport, right through to providing training programs and support for elite junior and senior players representing their association, Queensland, and Australia, through our High Performance Program.
Aussie Hoops- Basketball for kids in Brisbane
The nation-wide Aussie Hoops program is an ideal way to introduce basketball to boys and girls between the ages of 5-12, including those with physical and developmental impairments. Aussie Hoops uses fun activities and games to teach the fundamentals of the sport and to develop general motor skills, and is run at schools and Basketball Queensland associations. Programs can be run indoors or outdoors, during school terms or as holiday camps, with a wide range of activities, session plans and guides for coaches, teachers and parents running the program.
