For somewhere the kids are sure to have a blast, Tiddlywinks is a play cafe that also holds daily dance classes, including ballet and several other types of dance. They hold different class types each day at their Nundah location, from the little tots classes to classes for bigger kids up to 11, although their ballet program targets 3-4 year olds. They also hold daily dance discos that run for around half an hour. Brisbane Academy of Dance
Brisbane Academy of Dance offers a variety of dance types, including classical ballet, encouraging students to learn all dance types to broaden their skills. Located in Stafford, they offer classses starting from 2 years right through to adults. With class exams and several showcases through the year, this is the place for dances wanting to go that extra step, yet still offering open classes for those kids just wanting some fun while dancing, without the exams and performances.
Kinder Ballet, available in several locations across Brisbane and beyond, specialising in Preschool ballet. KinderBallet is a ballet program developed for children between 2 and 5 years of age, as an introduction to Classical Ballet. They also offer programs for older kids, as well as a ‘mummy and me’ class for the youngsters. Classes range from $14 to $17 per lesson depending on the child’s age.
Seriously Dance, located in Macgregor, offers ballet classes for 2 years and up, offering both classical ballet classes, and contemporary and lyrical class for those who like to do ballet “without the rules”. They believe in appreciating and respecting each child for their individual talent and personality. Lots of other dance styles also offered, including a boys only hip hop and dance class.
Tiny Tutus operate classes in many locations across Brisbane and Ipswich on different days of the week, with a minimum of five students needed per class. Children can start from age 2 in classes, with some locations holding Teeny Tiny Tutu classes from 16 months if you are keen to get them started sooner. Registration is $50 and $16.50 per lesson in Queensland. The registration fee also includes their very own tiny tutu to keep. The aim is to introduce little ballerinas to classical ballet and beginner elements of Jazz technique as well as encouraging imagination and creativity.
