Australia Day Brisbane 2018
All around Australia, families will soon be celebrating everything that makes this country great – from our indigenous heritage and early pioneering days, right through to our modern success stories. Why not join in the celebrations at one of these family friendly Australia Day Queensland events.
AUSTRALIA DAY AT VICTORIA PARK – BRISBANE
So much more than just a golf course, Victoria Park will be celebrating Australia Day with fun activities including tug-a-war, sack races, a jumping castle, giant outdoor games, a kids’ playground and great food and drink offers. Victoria Park’s fun 18 hole putt putt course and driving range will also be open all day. Kids will also receive free Aussie stickers and soft serve ice-cream thanks to Maleny Dairies. The Victoria Park Bistro will be serving an Australian menu, including wood-fired pizzas.

AUSTRALIA DAY AT BROADWATER PARKLANDS – GOLD COAST
This year for Australia Day, you can jump on the G:link (Gold Coast Light Rail) and head down to the Broadwater in the cool of the afternoon. Pack your picnic rug for an evening of spectacular fireworks – the only ones on the Gold Coast! You will also want to bring your appetite so you can indulge in the huge food truck feast or grab a snag from the barbeque. There will be the JJ Richards “Aussie Sports Zone” for the kids and some music from local artists along the pier.
Broadwater Parklands is located at Marine Parade, Southport.
AUSTRALIA DAY AT HIGHFIELDS PIONEER VILLAGE – TOOWOOMBA
The Australia Day program at Highfields Pioneer Village begins with Aboriginal art talks at 9.00am, cow milking at 9:30am, and much more. There are over 60 buildings of historic interest to wander through filled with collectibles and memorabilia of a time when life was much simpler in Australia. Youngsters will love the baby animal nursery, whip cracking school, sheep-shearing demonstrations and family games. There will also be an Indigenous art show and an Aboriginal dance workshop by Don Nikkelson. Local vendors will sell their goods and chattels at the Village Markets and Trevor Dodds, Cactoblastis and John Colville will entertain the crowds. Billy tea and damper is available onsite and there will be plenty of Aussie tucker including vegemite sandwiches, meat pies and steak sandwiches.
Highfields Pioneer Village is located at 73 Wirraglen Road, Highfields.
Australia Day at Cecil Plains
Get down early to the Cecil Plains Community Hall Park for a delicious Australia Day breakfast, commencing at 7.00am. At 9.00am, there will be an official presentation of Australia Day awards, followed by games and activities, including the Cecil Plains Hobby Horse Cup! Morning tea will also be available, before the event concludes at 11.00am.

Australia Day at Queens Park, Maryborough
This annual event offers a free barbeque breakfast to the community followed three legged races, sac races, egg and spoon races, thong throwing, and the giant dummy spit! There will also be live music, billy tea and damper and displays by community groups including the Fraser Coast Antique Car Club. The Maryborough Markets will be re-locating to the Australia Day site, for one day only.
Queens Park is located off Richmond Street, Maryborough.
Australia Day at Hervey Bay Historical Village and Museum
There’s lots happening at the Hervey Bay Historical Village and Museum on Australia Day, including sheep-shearing, whip making, tug of war, log sawing, painting, rope making, corn shelling and many more activities! There will also be free balloons and flags for children, and games such as stilts, quoits and thong throwing. Hot and cold food and drinks will be available.

Australia Day at Baffle Creek
Head down to the Baffle Creek Community Oval for an Aussie BBQ, damper with golden syrup and lamingtons. Delicious! There will also be plenty to keep the kids entertained, including egg and spoon races, three legged races, water pistols to cool off, and a competition for the best Aussie costume.

Australia Day at Calliope
The Calliope Roosters Senior Rugby League Club is the host of the 2017 Australia Day family fun day. Families will love the jumping castle and water slide, listening to Triple J’s hottest 100, and playing in the six a side cricket competition. Gates open at 9.30am and the cricket competition commences at 10.30am. Cost is $30 for a team of six cricketers. A canteen and bar will be operating throughout the day.

Australia Day at Baralba
Australia Day at Baralba promises to be a day of fun, food and entertainment on the banks of the Dawson River. A highlight of the event will be the guest appearance of Baralaba local and Broncos player Corey Oates. There will be a presentation of the Australia Day Awards at 9.00 am, followed by Aussie bingo, raffles, poetry readings and much more.
Australia Day celebrations at Baralba will be located at the Neville Hewitt Camping Area, Bedford Street, Baralaba.
AUSTRALIA DAY AT SOUTH BANK
South Bank will be hosting the Great Australian Bites event – a celebration of food, culture and music on Australia Day. South Bank restaurants will be preparing delectable tasting plates to try – including old favourites and new culinary delights, and local artists will be performing along the river. South Bank will also be the location for a spectacular Australia Day fireworks display. The fireworks begin at 7.30pm, and the best vantage point is along the Clem Jones Promenade.
South Bank Parklands are located in South Brisbane.
Airlie Beach, Port Douglas and Longreach will also be hosting Great Australian Bites events.
